look at landscape, search for beauty, see the truth

Local Icons

My work ethic is based on the idea of practice. In order to practise, I must photograph near to my home in North Yorkshire, and I do this as regularly as I can. But this practice is not a form of 'casual jogging', artistically-speaking. On the contrary, I feel my local work is also my most important. It is where I can afford to take more creative and technical risks. I am also more likely to encounter inspiring lighting conditions, and the full seasonal range of the landscape, simply because most of my life is spent living at home. Some of my favourite haunts are well-known local landmarks, but others are hidden corners and views, well away from the beaten track.
