Gallery Products
Joegraphic which is re-branding into Joe Cornish Galleries as a trademark, publishes high quality greetings cards, calendars and a diverse range of art quality photographic prints. Our over-riding aim has always been to offer the best quality we could achieve, while sourcing our printing as locally as possible. In an age that continues to generate printing innovation at a remarkable rate it can sometimes be a challenge to keep up, but we strive to do so.
Cards and calendars
Our cards and calendars are printed by Falcon Press in Stockton, using scans made and colour-corrected by Joe. While the four-colour offset process is not perfect, by working closely with our printers, and by always being present for press inspection before a print run, we believe our quality is among the best in the business. Since we still pack cards by hand we are able to exercise an additional tier of quality control here, as print flaws are not tolerated by our packers.
Our calendars are usually available from July of the previous year. The large format calendar Northern Light, as its name implies, focuses on the landscape of northern England. Landscape Light is a more compact dropdown calendar, making it easier to post and features landscapes from around the UK. For 2008, a third calendar has been launched, 'Close to Nature' with new detail images and an appointment calendar format. Joe selects the images from his archive, but has always tried to make the calendars reflect his most recent work. This helps to keep him on his toes!
Photographic Prints
The photographic prints that are exhibited at the galleries are mostly available as a part of various limited edition ranges. We now also offer a range of smaller prints, which are unlimited. We still primarily use print technology that utilises photographic paper and traditional processing, such as the Ilfochrome (formerly Cibachrome) process. These prints have always offered the best durability and fade resistance, along with the richest colour, greatest tonal range and sharpest detail. In essence it is the method that most closely reflects the photographer's original transparency. However, digital printing has now been developed so that it can seamlessly incorporate traditional photo papers. In consequence for certain images and for our unlimited range we utilise digital printing. It should be emphasised that the resulting prints are the same in appearance and quality to a traditional Ilfochrome. Joe's aim has always been to be faithful to the original transparency. But if the print can be better than the transparency, so much the better!
