Autumn Colour

As part of our new range of I.T. related workshops, Joe Cornish Galleries are pleased to announce CAPTURE2COMPUTER- an holistic approach to photographic training.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
This workshop is designed for amateur landscape photographers who wish to refine further both their practical and post-production skills. Participants will be expected to bring all necessary equipment for such a workshop, including tripod, graduated filters, charged batteries and of course water-proof clothing and suitable footwear!

COURSE DETAILS
During the course of the workshop participants will be encouraged to move beyond the record shot i.e. a representational image of a location to produce a more personal & creative interpretation of the scenes before them. Steve believes that successful landscape photography is based on the ability to capture and communicate as much (if not more) of what the photographer feels rather than what is simply just seen. Participants will be supported and advised on how best to inject mood & emotion into their landscape images.

DAY 1 - Arrive at the gallery in Northallerton for 09:00 start.
Over light refreshments, Steve will host a short seminar to discuss your photography and what your aims are for the weekend. This will be followed by a talk, illustrated with Steve's work, where he will share with the group his ideas on how to develop your own creativity.

We will then travel to Thorp Perrow Arboretum and spend the day photographing the autumn colours & textures in this magnificent woodland that extends over 85 acres. Thorp Perrow contains many species that are endangered in their natural habitat and has some rare trees that are the largest specimens of their type in Great Britain. The photographic potential is unlimited and Steve has been a regular visitor for many years so is very familiar with all that the arboretum has to offer.

Steve will be on hand throughout the day to offer advice and encouragement to all participants - whether experienced photographer or relative novice. His many years of experience of leading photographic workshops means that participants of all abilities will benefit and will be well supported in addressing their individual photographic challenges.

DAY 2 - After an overnight stay in Northallerton, attendees will arrive 09.00 at the Gallery for an initial de-brief with Steve and Mark before loading the previous day's images onto the IT suite of computers. We will then assess and discuss your images, and how they might be processed to match your original vision. Using either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements (attendees' choice), Mark will guide attendees through the correct workflow required to produce gallery standard images. Comprehensive Photoshop/Photoshop Elements course notes will also be supplied to take away. The workshop will conclude around 5.30p.m.

COST

The total cost for this 2-day workshop is £375.00 per person.
This includes travel to and from the location plus an evening meal on day 1, overnight accommodation and cooked breakfast. Lunch and regular refreshments at the gallery on the 2nd day is also provided.
This workshop excludes Insurance and lunch on the first day. Participants should bring along a packed lunch for the first day.

ABOUT CAPTURE2COMPUTER WORKSHOPS
As the catalyst for these workshops, Joe Cornish had a vision to create an holistic approach to photography workshops from the capture of an image to computer, where attendee's skill-sets can be honed and refined, helping to enable them to improve both their pre & post-capture knowledge.

ABOUT STEVE GOSLING

I am a professional photographer who specialises in producing creative & contemporary landscape and nature images.
My photographs have been published internationally as posters & greetings cards and have appeared in books, magazines, newspapers & calendars across the world. Prints of my work have been exhibited in venues throughout the UK and have appeared on sets for both theatre and film productions. My work has also won many awards in both national and international competitions.

"I believe that a passion for the subject is an essential pre-requisite for a successful photograph. If the photographer feels ambivalent about whatever is seen through the viewfinder how can they hope to have any impact on those who see the final photograph? Communicating mood & emotion are my most important motivators for making images. I've never been overly concerned with technical perfection or producing an accurate pictorial record of a subject or a location. For me the heart of photography is to capture and communicate what I'm feeling, as much (if not more) than what I see at the time of releasing the shutter. If my photographs speak to the viewer on an emotional level then I have succeeded in my work."
